Quotes and Macros
Permalink

If you've rolled with Malaphim, you've noticed that he's macroed some of his abilities so that he says cool things when they happen.   He and Mike and I were talking about appropriate quotes for various abilities last night.  I thought I'd continue the thread here cuz its fun and nerdy.  ferdy, even.

Bonus points if you can name the movies...

For Frost Mages:
"This?  This is ice.  This is what happens to water when it gets too cold.  This?  This is <target>.  This is what happens to people when they get too sexually frustrated."

Silence, Imp. Counterspell:
"Tell me Mr. Anderson, what good is a phone call... if you're unable to speak?"

Hunter:
"Good, Bad, I'm the guy with the gun."

Shaman/Rogue wielding this:
"You may feel a slight sting.  That's pride ****ing with you."

hah,  I got a million of them.  try the steak and don't forget to tip your waitress.

I'll refrain from answering, because I was looking up a lot of these same movies last night. So others can play the guessing game.

Hunter:
"Good, Bad, I'm the guy with the gun."

I actually use this one.  It /says "Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the Death Coil."

Shaman/Rogue wielding this:
"You may feel a slight sting.  That's pride ****ing with you."

That has "win" written all over it.

I've forgotten a lot of the ones I liked the most.  But I'm all for macros.  In fact, my next post will be a quick how-to.

I thought that sounded familiar.   Sorry for stealing.

Speaking of stealing:
Pickpocket:  "Everybody be cool, this is a robbery!"

Feral Spirit
Permalink

here's a few I've been toying with for feral spirit (enh shaman 51 pt talent, summons ghost wolves to fight by your side)

My current one, courtesy of Mikey:  "Maybe the dingo ate your baby?"

but also,
"You must be like the wolf-pack, not the six-pack."  (Mystery Men)

"Havoc!"  (a la Cry havoc and loose the dogs of war.)

and my current fav:  "You ain't got no problem.  I'm on the mother****er.  Go back in there, and wait for the wolf who should be coming directly."
(had to cut the "chill them ******s out" part, as I'm sure that's against the TOS.)

How to create a simple "cast-and-say" macro:

1 - Type /macro to pull up the Macro window
2 - Click "New" to make a new macro
3 - Name it, pick an icon (this might be the hardest part – decisions!) and click "Okay"
4 - Enter macro stuff in the text box (up to 255 characters total per macro).
Here's an example of one of mine:
#showtooltip Death Coil
/cast Death Coil
/s Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the Death Coil.

The "#showtooltip" line is optional, but it makes it so when you hover over the icon with your mouse, it gives the tooltip for the spell.

If you want to include your target in your /say line, format like this:

#showtooltip Death Grip
/em flings poo at %t.
/s Hey, %t! You like that?! I got plenty more! Come see!
/cast Death Grip

That isn't one of my macros, but I like it. So there.

5 - Drag the macro to your actionbar.
6 - Click "Exit" to close the Macro window.
7 - Enjoy!

I think if you pick the "question mark" icon, and include the showtooltip in your macro, it should automatically pick the correct icon for the spell.  At least, it worked for me.

Rain of Fire, Flamestrike, etc.
"Any moron with a pack of matches can set a fire.  Raining down sulfur is an endurance trial.  Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in, outside of soccer."
(Dogma)

I did not know that.  I will have to try that out for the one I couldn't find the right icon for.

Oh. Very Nice. I guess the showtooltip lines on mine are REALLY not needed. Only if the first /cast in the macro ISN'T what you want the tooltip to display.

Very good to know.

I think (but do not know) that you'll still want to use showtooltip so that when you hover over the button, it will display the spell info, rather than the macro name.   But the macro will auto-pick the correct spell icon for one spell macros.

Warrior, obviously:
"My love for you is like a truck, BERZERKER!  Would you like some making ****, BERZERKER!"

the wiki page indicated that it automagically assigns a tooltip based on the first /cast that appears in the macro.

so you'd want to use showtooltip if you had a string of casts but wanted it to show the 2nd or 3rd or something.

example:
#showtooltip Icy Touch
/cast Horn of Winter
/cast Death Grip
/cast Icy Touch
default tooltip would be for Horn of Winter, but with showtooltip, it's Icy Touch.

Edit: that macro probably wouldn't work right because of the global cooldown.  you'd probably have to use the code for timers so it would cast the next item after a set amount of time.

Mikey can read the forums, but not post, so I'm adding his, and throwing in and asking for better/other suggestions.

"It's so damn hot... milk was a bad choice."
- something fiery or hot i guess?

"I'm gonna punch you in the ovary, that's what I'm gonna do. A straight shot. Right to the babymaker."
- Rogue,  Kidney Shot or Cheap Shot

"I'm gonna shoot you with a BB gun when you're not looking. Yep, back of the head."
- Any class that stuns then gets behind the mob (and probably should use a gun)

"Well hello, Mister Fancypants."
- DK, Death Grip
- any class that summons or calls a pet (bonus points if you're a hunter and your pet's name is Fancypants)

"The Crossbow Project. There's No Defense Like a Good Offense."
- Hunter using some big damage skill while a crossbow is equipped

"Tall guy, weird clothes. First you see him, then you don't."
- Troll rogue talking about him/herself before using Vanish

"Nobody ****s with the Jesus!"
- any holy looking spell

"We're here to **** **** up!"
- opening taunt

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but I will kick you repeatedly in the balls!"
- Rogue, Kidney Shot or Cheap Shot

"I will rip your endocrine system out of your body."
- opening taunt

"One of you turds is about to get smacked in the mouth"
- opening taunt

"Get back, I'll windmill ya."
- something that should probably have knockback

And there you have it.

...Nice.

"I'm gonna shoot you with a BB gun when you're not looking. Yep, back of the head."

...Night Elf hunter, from shadowmeld

"I want to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture... and kill them"
- general

"Multipaassss."
-- Lock pick

"You're a handsome devil ... what's your name?" (grosse pointe blank)
-- Warlock pet summon.

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines"
- any speed buff, sprint, bloodlust.

"You must lash out with every limb, like an octopus who plays the drums"
- whirlwind, rogue AOE

"Someone must have ripped the "Q" section out of my dictionary, cuz I don't know the meaning of the word "quit""
-- self rez, shield wall, any big self heal

"We are number one.  All others are number two, or lower"
- any class, I just love this line.

"Maybe you should put some shorts on or something, if you want to keep fighting evil today"
- no idea where to use this, I just love it.   Maybe a resurrection spell

Yes, I'm on a mystery men kick.

Oh geez ... Paladin's Lay on Hands (
Heals a friendly target for an amount equal to the Paladin's maximum health - can be used on him/herself, too).

Here are my current ones, all inspired or stolen from lines from the same movie:

Army of the Dead (Summons an entire legion of Ghouls) -
"All right, you primitive screwheads ... step on up!"

Death Coil (instant blast of unholy energy) -
"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the Death Coil."

Death Grip (instantly draws/yanks the target towards the Death Knight) -
"Buckle up, bonehead. 'Cause you're goin' for a ride!"

Strangulate and Mind Freeze (two silencing spells) -
"You ain't sayin' but two things: Jack and ****... and Jack just left town."

one last one

"You'll rue the day!"

-best used before a bubble-hearth, vanish, or feign death.   It also helps if you have a friend who can complete the line for you.

"You'll rue the day!"

Or maybe the follow-up can also be used with a silence:

"'Rue the day?' Who talks like that?" /silence spell!

New ideas for my macros, to keep with the guild name theme:

Army of the Dead (Summons an entire legion of Ghouls) -
"It was only a couple of flipper babies!"

Death Coil (instant blast of unholy energy) -
"Baby, this is my gift to you!"

Death Grip (instantly draws/yanks the target towards the Death Knight) -
"Life is short, life is ****, and soon it will be OVER!"

Strangulate and Mind Freeze (two silencing spells) -
"Gleemonex makes it feel like it's seventy-two degrees in your head... all the time!"

And, maybe when mounting up -
"Hey, look! I'm an elephant rider! Huh? Ya like that?"

Tested this.  still needs #showtooltip for it to have a tooltip.
