Inscription and You!

Hey all, your friendly neighborhood scribe here.  I’ve started this thread so I can give you news about any new glyphs I discover, and so you can tell me what stuff you need.
First, as a quick (well, I don't do "quick") introduction to Inscription, here are things scribes can make for other players:

1. Scrolls.  These can provide buffs to one of your stats, (+30 at lvl 80).  Only one scroll at a time can be used, they are usually compatible with potions, but not necessarily with buff spells.   Also, there's the Scroll of Recall, which transports you to your hearth location without using up your hearthstone.   Make sure you pick up the right one for your level.  Scrolls are cheap, and I tend to make a lot of random ones in the course of research.  I usually stick these in the guild bank, please grab some.

2. Darkmoon cardsIf you can make a full deck (Ace through Eight) of cards, you can turn them in for powerful trinkets. The four trinkets at lvl 80: Greatness, Illusion, Death and Berserker (They're in the right hand column on that link)  There are also lower level decks for <60 characters, with much lower costs, let me know if you want to know more.
These are some of the best trinkets currently in game, but the downside is that each card is very expensive (3 Eternal Life and 6 of my rarest ink).  In addition, there is no guarantee when I make a card, that it will be the number or the deck that you want, which means we’d have to make more than 8, and probably round out your deck with cards from the AH.

3.  For enchanters, I can make vellums that you can use to sell your enchants in the AH.   Very useful for levelling enchanting if you don’t want to waste enchants or time in the trade channel.  I’ll provide them free to any enchanter, as long as I have the inks on me. (It pays to keep enchanters happy)

4. Glyphs, of course.  Glyphs come in two flavors, minor and major.  About 2/3 of the major glyphs in the game are learned from a trainer, so I have all of those.  But the other 1/3 of majors and ALL minor glyphs are learned through research, which can only be done once per day (per type) and teaches you one random glyph.Luckily, I have now learned ALL the minor glyphs currently in the game, just ask. Major glyph research is still progressing, and I’ll try to keep an updated list here of those that I’ve learned. Or just check out the list of glyphs for your class and see if I have the one you want.

The Horn of Winter shouldn't be a problem.  In fact, there might be one in the guild bank.  If not, I'll whip one up next time I'm on.   I can't actually tell you what mats it needs, because I can't get to wowhead (or anywhere good) at work.  But they're minor.

If I remember right, the glyph of Death and Decay is learned through research and I do not know it yet.   Once I do, the mats won't be a problem.  Glyphs are cheap to make once you know the recipe, it's the recipe research that's expensive (and slow).

Horn of Winter needs 1 Resiliant Parchment and 1 Ethereal Ink (2 Nether Pigments, or 2 5-stacks of some outlands herbs)

DnD will take 1 Resiliant Parchment and 1 Ink of the Sea (2 Azure Pigments, or 2 5-stacks of some northrend herbs)

As for the Obliterate Glyph, I highly recommend it to anyone doing Blood-spec dps (and maybe Frost if there aren't more important glyphs that they need). "Your Obliterate strikes for 20% additional weapon damage, but does 50% less bonus damage per disease."  This will make it NOT as reliant on diseases, and if your weapon is slow enough (and has enough top-end dmg), the 20% extra damage will pretty much always destroy the extra dmg it gets from that 50% from diseases).  If you need quick bursty dps, you can bypass the IT and PS and go straight to HS HS OB OB.  That should burn stuff down pretty fast.

Cool, thanks.
So, I've got a ton of all of those mats. No need for anything from you.  I'll send the Horn of Winter your way, and keep your fingers crossed for Death&Decay.  You can probably buy it for 20-50gold at the AH, if you're in a hurry.
Too bad that blacksmithing has practically nothing for enhancement shamans.

the DnD glyph is going to be much better after 3.08, but I don't know if that means the price of it on the AH will go up or down. I guess it will all depend on how much supply there actually is.

Edit: I guess, if you see one for a great price, it might be worth picking up.

Just so you know what to look for, the recipe won't be in the AH, just the actual glyph itself.

Yeah. Mattie has to discover the actual recipe. It's random.

Not really.  I log in, click Northrend Inscription Research, and then wait for the 20 hour cooldown to expire so I can do it again.

Mattie made one for me and it would be a waste since I'd drop it when I went Unholy.  So I'll send you mine.

New DK glyph discovery (Chains of Ice)

Just discoverd Glyph of Chains of Ice.  It causes your chains of ice to do damage in addition to the root/slow.  Might be nice for frost builds.   Lemme know if you want one.

Commenting the DK ones:

Glyph of Death Strike - Increases your Death Strike's damage by 2% for every 5 runic power you currently have. The runic power is not consumed by this effect. (Old: 2% regardless of runic power)
Monk: HUGE change.  Love it!

Glyph of Pestilence (new) - Your Pestilence ability now refreshes disease durations on your primary target back to their maximum duration.

Monk: Holy awesome!  This is a major change not just AoE.  It is now possible to refresh your diseases on a single target (or more) with the cost of 1 blood rune and 1 GCD, rather than a frost, unholy and 2 GCD's (plus another blood rune and 1 GCD if refreshing on multiple targets).  This is just nutz.  I hope it stays.
