The Ampitheatre of Anguish (which I will call AoA from now on, because that's a bitch to type) is the new Ring Of Blood type gladiator quest chain, located in Zul Drak, probably for around lvl 76's and up. Decent blue weapon rewards (and an achievement) I haven't done it yet, so as ya'll get levelled up and into that zone, maybe we could get a group together.
That would probably work better, and I can function as a back up healer. A lot of my enhancement/elemental talents work well in an off healing role, but provide no benefit as a main healer.
Since I'm bored at work on training week, allow me to pontificate... (or just skip it if you're not into shaman stuff)
With my current spec, two things happen when I'm dpsing: Whenever I get a crit with a spell, my next two spells (healing or damage) cost 40% mana. Whenever I hit something in melee, I have a chance to build maelstrom weapon which reduces the casting time of my next spell (any spell but lava burst) by 20%. Maelstrom stacks 5 times, at which point my next spell is insta-cast. So, in a way, I actually heal better when I'm dps'ing, as successful hits/spell damage reduces both the mana cost and the cast time of any healing spells I need to throw down. I can use those low mana/instant spells either as an emergency tank heal, or a chain heal on the group. And, of course, if no healing is needed, I can use it on a dps spell.
As a main healer, I'm not meleeing or doing as many spell crits, so my heals are very slow and mana intensive.
Of course, now that kpax is gonna make me the titansteel bonecrusher for my main hand, and I'm going for revered with hodir for the off-hand axe, I don't need the reward as much. I'll probably pick up the dagger so I can get the Master of Arms achievement. (4 weapon skills at 400)
If anyone is curious, here's the rewards to the AoA quest Icier Barbed Spear
And even though you won't need the AoA reward, it's still something you gotta do. I didn't need the reward either, since I was already 80. It's not like Ring of Blood, where the reward can last you a while at 80. It gets replaced rather easily.
Of course, if you don't have a lot of cash, I guess it won't get replaced as easily ... at least for DK's.
Damn you! I was going to change them all to be the same type of thing, but I thought, "No way is anyone is going to notice that" That's what I get for ignoring my OCD, I guess.

Monk is a web guy. He notices most things that are code-y. He's also a fan of hovering before clicking, to see where it links.
Edit: Apparently, he also talks in third person out of nowhere.
We lack a healer, however. If I heal it, it will REALLY be a test of your tanking ablility.
Didn't realize until I made my new sig ... I'm defense capped. In fact, after I got a new ring and gem, I was overkill. So I swapped out some gems to get more dodge and stamina while still being defense capped. Now I'm also 20k+ health, 19.24% dodge and 14.23% parry. Does that make me a good tank? No, but it sure buys me and the healer a little time to learn.
can't update my sig data until tomorrow .. so the data is off in the sig.
Seriously, Khris, you should hit 75, do AoA, get your weapon upgrade, then go back to the Netherwing Dailies. Weapon upgrade = more dmg = faster killing = faster dailies. And the mace is just massive.
Crimson Cranium Crusher Mace One-Hand Speed 2.80 219 - 407 Damage (111.8 damage per second) +19 Agility +22 Stamina Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 26. Equip: Increases attack power by 52.
Hey I'm good for that and I just dinged 75 last night............ That Mace sounds nice to me I could some serious skull crushing with that bad boy............
